The Parker Jewish Institute, located in New Hyde Park, NY, is seeking an experienced Full Time  Grants Accountant   to join our team of professionals in our Finance Department.  


The Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, conveniently located on the Queens-Nassau County border in New Hyde Park, New York, is a non-profit health care facility that offers short term rehabilitation, sub-acute care and nursing home care, as well as community-based health care' encompassing adult day health care, home health care, and a hospice program that serves terminally ill patients in their own homes or in nursing facilities, including Parker's nursing home.

The Grants Accountant is primarily responsible for all aspects of budgeting and reporting of the grants expenditures as required by each grant. The Grants Accountant reports to the Sr. Vice President for Research and Grants, with the collaboration of the Accounting Manager.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Assist in the application process for new grants
  • Assist in the preparation of budget modifications as needed
  • Obtain a full understanding of approved grants and the requirements associated with each grant
  • Comply with reporting deadlines of the grants
  • Submit all claims for Grant reimbursements in a timely manner
  • Prepare required reports in a timely and accurate manner
  • Gather all documentation to support claims and audits
  • Reconcile reports to the general ledger and prepare journal entries as needed
  • Assist with Grants Audits

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • At least two years of not-for-profit accounting experience'Grants Accounting experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel'experience with ADL software a plus
  • Must be very detail oriented
