Receptionist/Switchboard Operator-Per Diem

The Parker Jewish Institute, located in New Hyde Park, NY is seeking a per diem Receptionist/Switchboard Operator to join its team of professionals in Security and Support Services. This position is primarily responsible for operating a multi-line switchboard to direct incoming calls, utilizing internal and external paging systems, and greeting patients, visitors and staff.

Key Tasks Include:

  • Operate a multiple position telephone console
  • Relay internal/external calls
  • Coordinate CAC response/Log Book
  • Utilize internal/external paging systems
  • Coordinate alarm responses (burglar, fire, elevator)
  • Greet patients, visitors and staff
  • Provide information to the public
  • Work with the Security Department to provide a safe and secure environment

Position Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service skills a customer-service attitude.
  • At least two years of experience in a customer-oriented position is required
  • Prior experience working as a switchboard operator a plus
